A Room With A View

Just finished reading some nineteenth century english book. It was just around one hundred and a half pages but it was hard to finish for some reason... I blame tumblr!!! There's a movie about it that came out in the eighties!

The actress is the wife of Tim Burton and you can always see her in his movies.

Here's the review I made of the book:

A Room with a ViewA Room with a View by E.M. Forster

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

The story is about an english girl, Lucy, that together with her cousin is traveling through Italy. There she meets George Emerson that is not like anybody that she knows and makes her question all her beliefs. She begins to analyze society, the role of women and how hypocritical people can be.

What is curious throught the book is that her point of view is constantly changing and a single event can be the trigger that makes her rethink everything that she held as truth. I think that Lucy is really admirable because although she seemed like a stupid girl at first she is able to expand her horizons and go against what is held as normal. But is hard to get engaged to the book because the beginning is really boring and dreary because is just about stupid rituals in society and what they thought was acceptable. But as the book goes on the narration becomes simpler and straight to the point. It's also like a puzzle that comes together at the end and small details at the beginning of the book can make you understand what happens later on. You could call it coincidence or fate but is  what seems to unite the characters at the end, but it also seems to be like every single moment can lead to the desired ending and small events can make great differences. This could be a feminist book for many reasons because it calls for the independence of women against the dominacy of males, but it also critizices the attitude of certain feminists that loose their ideals along the way. The book is cleverly written and is a nice challenge for a quick read.
