Watching anime...

I feel so gross right now... I spent the entire day sitting in front of a pc, eating burger king and watching long marathons of How I Met Your Mother (I'm watching it since the first season with my brother) and some new animes.

A cool one is Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo. It's about a normal bored guy who encounters a weird girl who isn't able to do anything by herself, and since they live in the same dorm he is entrusted with the responsibility to taking care of her. It's funny and the graphics are cool but because it's a shounen anime there are a lot of ecchi shots and I'm like WHY DO I HAVE TO STAND THIS?, I'M A GIRL FOR FUCKS SAKE!!!!

Then there is Kokoro Connect. It's about a group of friends who encounter a supernatural situation where they exchange bodies. I guess it's intended to be comedy sometimes but it's more into supernatural, drama and romance.

THANK YOU HARUKI MURAKAMI!!!

I've been a long time reader of Murakami and I even made a deep study for school of his life and it's thanks to him that I been able to discover the magic of classical music. I don't know if you know that I am a consummate reader, but when I read a book and it mentions some piece of music then I HAVE TO HEAR IT! And having Internet available all the time is really useful so I'm able to enjoy music related to the story while reading and even investigate facts that interest me. So thanks to this I found this amazing song. Not that it was mentioned directly on the books, but thanks to hearing music from the books I was able to find it! ^^

1Q84

Sorry for not being here lately, I don't know if you had noticed but I had been trying to write at least one post every day. Of course, that hasn't been possible... Some of the reasons of my absence are that I have been reading the book 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. But this is not easy task seeing that the book has more than nine hundred pages... but at least is not boring! Far from it, it's absolutely interesting, but because I'm only human I haven't been able to finish it yet...

But I think that is better this way! Because normally I would read some nice book that makes me feel good but barely lasts a day, of course they leave a nice taste but I only think of them around one week if not one or two days..
But this one it's something different! I think I will remember this book for a good part of my life!! I know that I have read many books by Haruki Murakami before, but they haven't marked me the way this book is doing. Of course I remember some bizarre events from those books, or I remember some useful bit of trivia that seemed interesting at the moment, or maybe even music, but the stories haven't left me hanging in the edge of my chair while I'm reading. Right now I'm highly anticipating what will happen next. But I blame everything on the fact that I almost never take time to think and analyze about what is happening in the books. Although I realize this may be the fault of all the brainless, happy-go-lucky books that I'm reading lately. But it's just that lately many things have been shit in my life so at least I want to feel good in my fantasy world where everything turns out ok....

This is one of those "brainless" things that has been making me feel good lately.

From Rags // Animal Collective

Review from the book I read today:
From RagsFrom Rags by Suzanne  Wright
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was such a nice change from all the books about painfully shy girls with no will at all. I was prepared to be disappointed by some common, mindless, and cliched plot. But instead I was pleasantly surprised by a strong female lead who takes no crap from anybody!! And the fact that it was written by a British author made it even better! I really enjoyed reading about all the blokes, twats or how she sodded off ponces who tried to shag her. haha
To explain how great it was you have to understand that I expected a book about a consummate playboy who gets back with his first love and changes his wicked ways, but since the first moment they meet again she takes the lead by making him understand that she won't tolerate him using her and then cheating on her so if he can't change he better fucks off. And it's not just words mind you! and if something happened is because she wanted it, not because the guy was ohhh soooo irresistible and he was soooo.. dominant that she couldn't resist him. The best part is that when she was confronted by difficult situations she took matters into her own hands and didn't expect a knight in shinning armor to come save her. She was confident, smart and didn't crumble to pieces if someone talked shit about her.
(view spoiler)[ The best part was when Connor's ex comes to try to tell her that she is pregnant with his baby but she just tells her: "Congratulations on your fictional pregnancy!" and then closes the door on her face. haha  (hide spoiler)]
The only thing that I thought was weird at first but then ended up liking even if it was confusing at times is that the author changes the point of view A LOT throughout the book. So sometimes your inside Jaxx's mind and then your inside Connor's, without mentioning all their friends and sometimes just acquaintances. But it was nice to know the reactions of the both of them while they interacted, mainly because sometimes Jaxxon acted totally different of how she was feeling at the moment.
Another thing I liked a lot were their friends. Sometimes they were just sooo insightful and helpful when they realized they just needed a push, or they simply backed off when they needed space. That is without mentioning Jaxxon's three überprotective uncles. haha But their friends play a large role in the book by providing help or simply comedy. In short, it was a good book.

Ruby Sparks

I just saw this very unique movie, the script was written by the leading actress and she based the main character on her actual boyfriend who is also the main character in the movie! haha interesting no?

The plot was very original and it really surprised me, I definitely recommend it to you!

And this is a song from the soundtrack from the movie, it's really cool although the lyrics are very nonsensical... haha

Marie Antoinette: The Journey

I've been reading the book of Marie Antoinette by Antonia Fraser for a while now. The book is actually around five hundred pages long but somehow her way of writing makes it difficult for me to finish it, or it may be the fact that I'm in the last leg of the book when everything gets depressing when the revolution makes her life a mess. And I don't even have a glimmer of hope because I know what is her imminent fate. It's like a long torture to read how she can't escape the horrible death that awaits her.... But I'll make an inhuman effort and maybe I'll finish reading it this week...
But out of curiosity, to find out if the whole affair thing was true, I started reading Count Fersen's diary. (Do you see the similarity of the original Count Fersen and the actor in the movies in the pictures above?) But I must say that his diary is A LOT MORE INTERESTING than Antonia Fraser's book! He shares funny observations of the customs of the people in Versailles and many other countries. And like Antonia Fraser says, he truly was a great lover of women. haha But what is sad is that I know that he also had a sad end...
But meanwhile I'm going to enjoy the small nuances in his life!

The Moon And More - Sarah Dessen

OMG!!! The cover for the new book of Sarah Dessen was just released and the best thing is that is going to be released AT MY BIRTHDAY!!! At June 4th, I'm totally gonna read it that day! I'm just soooo happy right now!!!!

Well, because I'm in a good mood I'll share with you a song that puts me in even a better mood!!

Pink - Lili Wilkinson

Just read this book, it was unexpectedly good, at first the writing seemed kind of simple and superficial but then there appeared all this complicated dialogues, and it got me wondering if I'm just too stupid or the kids on Australia are smarter... haha (there are a lot of inside jokes that you only get if you are a super nerd, avid reader or simply good google user, I'm the last btw)
But the plot wasn't stupid at all! there were a lot of feminist arguments but interpreted in a modern way, and I really liked that! It showed that you can be a feminist and still wear pink!! Of course it could have been better, because somehow I couldn't relate to the characters at all, probably because I'm not gay and don't have issues with sexual inclinations... haha
Another thing I liked is that it didn't divide groups between populars and nerds, because somehow the authors always make their main characters choose if they want to be popular and mean, or nerds who don't care what anybody else thinks. SPOILER: (I really liked that the leader of the pastels turned out to be a closeted nerd, and at the end pastels and screw ups found out they weren't that different after all).
At the end, it's a really simple book with common teenage issues but it has an unique plot that makes it worth reading.

Only Yesterday

Yesterday was my designated day to watch Japanese movies, animes specially. It was a long marathon so by the time I finished I didn't have strength left to write a post about them.... :(
First, I watched Only Yesterday, this movie was created by Studio Ghibli, the same studio from My Neighbor Totoro, which is the greatest anime movie ever btw... haha The graphics were a little old-looking but the story was really nice ^^ it felt like it was taken right out of a book of Haruki Murakami, and the ending was really nice, and that matters A LOT because Japanese movies tend to have bad endings...
Then I watched Whisper of the Heart, another movie from Studio Ghibli, also had old graphics but the story was even nicer!!!... sigh ^^ It's about a girl who likes to read a lot and discovers that all the books that she has read on the library were taken out by the same boy before. Then she meets that boy, who wants to learn how to make really good violins. But the story is just sooo sweet, and I also noticed that a lot of japanese animes have cats in them haha
Finally, I watched Millennium Actress. The story was kind of weird and I got bored at the middle of it, and it didn't have a good ending... But still, it was better than many other anime movies!

Every Day - David Levithan

This is the MOST AMAZING BOOK EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every DayEvery Day by David Levithan

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is one of the most original books I've read. You kind of expect a sci-fi book but it ends up being more than that. Every chapter of this book was so bittersweet, it's like David Levithan created an amazing unique story for every day of A's life. A is just an observer of these different lives but meeting Rhiannon makes him want more. While reading it you want to know what is going to happen next between him and Rhiannon, but you also want to know in what kind of person he'll wake up the next day. And while some of these bodies had such depressing lives, some of them were such memorable characters. I just laughed and cried along with A. It's no surprise that he decided to write this book after talking with Suzanne Collins and John Green. This is the kind of book that stays with you forever...

Before I read this book, I just can't get over how great it is!!!...., I read some manga and these were the ones who stood out and are the ones that I'm always dying to read every week or every month, depending...
Kuragehime, about a guy who likes to dress as a girl and a lot of girls who are otakus and don't know anything about fashion, or being normal!
Do you see the change??? haha
Then there is Hibi Chouchou, one of the sweetest mangas I've ever read! ^^ It's about two painfully shy things that fall in love with each other.
One of my greatest favourites is Otoyomegatari, specially the latest volume with the twins. It's about young girls that become brides and it's set in the Caspian see.
Finally, there's Hiyokoi, but you already knew about it. But I'm repeating it because I'm happy that I got to read it today. I'll probably share more mangas later, when it isn't two o'clock in the morning, this is soooo not healthy!

Sea Breeze Series

I think I just broke a personal record by reading three books in a single day! and before that I reread like three series of like three or four books each!! so yeah, I've been reading a lot!!!! but I've also been eating a lot of fiambre, but you probably don't know what it is because it's only eaten in Guatemala, but I can assure you that is one of the most amazing thing you could ever eat, it's like every single amazing thing you can eat mixed together in one dish.
This are some of the books I've read in the past couple of days, but I'm sure if I put them all it would be a really long post... haha
But while this books, and their prequels and sequels, etc, are really good they just can't compare to a single book by Abbi Glines, and what makes me really happy is that she has written lots of them and I just read the latest one. I can't even describe how amazing it is, and I don't trust myself to put it into words and write a review that would give the book it's deserving merit. I'll just tell you that it seemed like the world around me disappeared and it was just me inside that book, of course anyone that saw me while reading it could just see me with a big grin on my face or unexpected fits of laughter. I probably freaked everybody out... haha
but the previous ones are just as amazing!!
