What I've been reading...

This are the books that I've been reading. And after finishing both books I was filled with this realization of how life is in school and how sometimes I'm part of this total stupid system. It made me think of how I treat my friends, my family, the people around me and life in general. And how every little thing we do or says affects many people in very different ways. I know it sound cheesy or stupid or whatever... but my world seems different now because I changed drastically the way I think, I only hope that I can apply it to my life... the book that made me think more was Before I Fall because somehow it brought me back to my childhood and made me think how children act stupid at times and hurt others and mainly it brought back feelings and memories that were buried inside. And some of them I buried myself for various reasons. This I realized when reading this other book:
While I was reading this book I realized that I had done many things similar to the main character. Maybe I hadn't moved from city to city but when things turned bad for me I just escaped, discarded friends and just moved to the next place. And then I realized that the things that made me run away finally affected me and I remembered that I really treasured those friends that I left myself. And for the first time it affected and I just broke down crying. After crying myself out I decided that I want to change. And for starters I decided that I'm gonna cut all my hair and leave it really short by the end of the week. I'll write you later with the results. ; )

Start of Summer Break!!!

HI everyone!!! It's the beginning of my summer break! Altough the climate is somewhat crazy because sometime it's really hot and the next moment it's raining : ( But at least it's not cold so I'm able to wear shorts and dresses. I was gonna upload a pic of how I look today but my cellphone is freaking out. haha. Yesterday I finished reading The Wind-Up Bird Chronicles from Haruki Murakami even though it was really long with 600 pages. But it was great, I'll do the review later! I'll probably read another book later or read this manga called Psyren that my brother wanted me to read for a while now. I'll  stay home because I don't feel like going out to swimm. I'm seriously lazy this year!! But at least I'm gonna spend my time making some jelly or drinking my own homemade yoghurt. ^^ haha seeya!!

Sputnik Sweetheart - Haruki Murakami

Amazon´s Review:
The narrator is a teacher whose only close friend is Sumire, an aspiring young novelist with chronic writer's block. Sumire is suddenly smitten with a sophisticated businesswoman and accompanies her love object to Europe where, on a tiny Greek island, she disappears "like smoke." The schoolteacher hastens to the island in search of his friend. And there he discovers two documents on her computer, one of which reveals a chilling secret about Sumire's lover.
Sputnik Sweetheart is a melancholy love story, and its deceptively simple prose is saturated with sadness. Characters struggle to connect with one another but never quite succeed. Like the satellite of the title they are essentially alone. And by toning down the pyrotechnics of his earlier work, Murakami has created a world that is simultaneously mundane and disturbing--where doppelgängers and vanishing cats produce a pervasive atmosphere of alienation, and identity itself seems like a terribly fragile thing. --Simon Leake --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

MY Opinion: This is such an amazing book!!! Once I read that someone said that the books from Murakami have the hability to sound like poetry and that is so true. I love how he develops characters and the themes he explores in his books. He has a great ability with words that just sucks you in. This a novel that you can read complete in one day because you want to know what happens next. But what I love the most is the fact that he shows his love for books and music in every book he writes. Now he is truly one of my favorite authors.

Breakfast at Tiffany´s - Truman Capote

Amazon´s Summary: In this seductive, wistful masterpiece, Truman Capote created a woman whose name has entered the American idiom and whose style is a part of the literary landscape. Holly Golightly knows that nothing bad can ever happen to you at Tiffany's; her poignancy, wit, and naïveté continue to charm.

My Review: You probably have heard of the movie Breakfast at Tiffany´s once in your life and if you haven´t then you´re probably young like me. To make you a short intro this is a book about a New York call girl and it´s written by Truman Capote who also wrote In Cold Blood. Btw, In Cold Blood also got a movie made of it and it´s about an homosexual assassin in a little town and how Capote gets there to investigate and write a book about it. But returning to the first book I must say that I was not dissapointed, it proved to be such a great book and I´ll probably read it again. Holly is suck a powerful main character, mysterious, excentric and unpredictable. It has such a great vibe. I´ll probably watch the movie this month. I can´t wait to see it!!

Erik Satie and Debussy

I'm addicted this days with the music of Erik Satie and Debussy. They are french composers from the avant-garde movement. I like their music because it's really calm and beautiful. Listen to it so you can understand me! haha, but if I'm honest with you I rather prefer Satie, they were friends and rivals at the same time but they both created such amazing music. You can listen to my playlist in grooveshark here if you don´t want it to be so slow or you can listen to it on a widget down here:

My recreation activity

For a science project this year I decided to measure the growth of the bacteria that creates yoghurt. It was really interesting and easy to get because my family had them for many generations. So some days in the afternoon I just spend my time giving them milk to eat and of course enjoying my time while I drink the yoghurt that I made. haha... The only sad thing is that they grow so quickly and we can´t drink all the yoghurt that they produce everyday so we have to get rid of a little of them. It makes me so sad... I'm gonna ask my friends if they want them so I don't have to get rid of them. I'm hopeful! : D Btw, this saturday is my birthday, so exciting!!!
