Foster The People

Lately, I've been really obsessed with Foster The People and this is probably because some of my friends are playing one of their songs so I had to check out the video and suddenly I was watching other videos from them. And I just couldn't help myself because the videos are so cool and they are so hot!!

In this song I really like the part where they sing "I tie my hands up to the chair so i dont fall that way" and I just love to sing along.... ^^

And I just like the beat of this song! : D

This are cool videos.

And this is just a great song!!! haha

An Education

I just finished watching the Virgin Suicides. The movie is just amazing! I love movies by Sofia Coppola! And I love movies with Kirsten Dunst!!! I had been looking forward to watching this movie after reading the book from Jeffrey Eugenides, and it surpassed all my expectations...

I also finished reading the book Emma by Jane Austen. Her books are so amazingly good, I love how she uses words and describe the actions of the characters. Emma is such a great character, I love how she struggles with her vanity and how Mr. Knightley helps her to be a better person. Mr. Knightley is one of my favourite character in her novels so far. There's a certain magical quality to Jane Austen books and it's really nice to immerse in the world of english countryside and in this case in the live of a rich girl and matchmaker. Altough there were some obnoxious characters that I just couldn´t stand!

And this movie...!! it's one of my favourites from now on! I just love everything about it. It's called An Education and it's about a sixteen year old english girl that always dreams of going to Paris and then she meets this older man who seems to make all her dreams come true.

I had a really stressful week and watching this movies and reading Emma for a couple of hours every night made me really relaxed... : ) Sometimes, instead of reading a book really quickly, I just take my time and enjoy it and sometimes it's just what I need. And this couple of movies where perfect for that because they're really artistic and show everyting in a different way. And finally this is a relaxing song that I've been listening to very frequently.

Madame Bovary - Gustave Flaubert

From Wiki: Madame Bovary (1856) is Gustave Flaubert's first published novel and is considered his masterpiece. The story focuses on a doctor's wife, Emma Bovary, who has adulterous affairs and lives beyond her means in order to escape the banalities and emptiness of provincial life. Though the basic plot is rather simple, even archetypal, the novel's true art lies in its details and hidden patterns. Flaubert was notoriously a perfectionist about his writing and claimed always to be searching for le mot juste ("the right word").

My Review: okey, so it's been a long time since I´ve reviewed good books, but I had to make an exception for this one!

This book was once censured and it is said that it is one of the best books ever written. It's really impressive all the attention that Flaubert gave to his choosing of words... Emma gives a slight remembrance to Marie Antoniette... because she used clothes and expensive things to feel good about her life. The book also gives an existensialist feeling because the main characters has an apparently happy life but always feels a need for something else. She always tires herself of what she has, like lovers, clothes, her husband, her child, her house, and her town. She's always desiring for something new and eventually this leaves to her demise. It's like a tragedy but it also mockes the attitude of certain people and the way of thinking at the time. So it turns into a satire.

In short, this novel is such a mystery and I'll probably read it again and find something new inside it.

Gokinjo Monogatari

I've been reading this awesome manga!!! It's called Gokinjo Monogatari and it's written by Yazawa Ai who also wrote:
Nana and....
Paradise Kiss!!

All of this series are awesome and they are my favorites together with Strobe Edge. In fact, I have actually read Gokinjo Monogatari before but it's so epic that I had to read it again!

To understand the awesomness of Yazawa's genious I have to tell you that all of this past three mangas are about fashion and music. But Yazawa's drawings are also fantastic. I personally love the fact of how, in Gokinjo Monogatari, the main character Mikako faces many dilemmas in her life but she gets to feel good with herself by dressing nice or coloring her hair. That's so nice! because I definitely do that so I get to understand how she feels. Like dressing nice is one of the best parts of my week because I have to wear an uniform to school every day but at the weekend I get to wear some outfit that I have had in my mind for all that week.

An interesting fact is that many characters in all of this mangas appear in the next manga but in a major or minor role. It's like the author created them abstedmindedly in Gokinjo Monogatari and then turned them around her head until those characters got their own series. But with different appearences sometimes but still with the same attitude.

Today I'm not sad or angry but a little annoyed with certain fake people that act a certain way and then expect you to act that way too. Especially when they are almost forcing to feel it. I may not be really expresive but I think that I get to display my feelings when they are real.

Snow Patrol

This song is really epic!!!, I had actually heard it before in my brother's playlist but I only thought "WOW!! such a cool song" but I actually never took the time to look for it's name. But now it's in my favorite playlist.

Now you get what I mean?? I just want to spend all my time listening to it..... ^^

Crystallised

This is another great song by The xx. Altough it´s not such a good video... but I love their voices and their sound.

And this is another great song!!! with not such a great video...

Apart from sharing great songs with you I had a really bizarre day. It was filled with horizontal rain, then ice falling off from the sky (I live in a really warm country), an almost solar eclipse and then sun again. The worst part was that the blocks of ice hit me really hard and even got inside my clothes... I hope you have more a more normal wheather at your home... : )

The String Quartet

Today we celebrated the centennial of Taiwan in Guatemala. They had a parade and a show that included some chinese dances. It was really cool and I liked the dance of the lions they made. But I´m really tired and maybe a little sunburned... : (

Right now I´m reading the series of Leaving Paradise while listening to great music!! And I really like the cover of Stairway to Heaven performed by the String Quartet.

It's such a good song and it's really relaxing while I'm reading, : ) Have a nice day!

This song is sooo amazing!!! And the video too!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now it's officially part of my favorite songs!

I'm writing this while I take a break from working in a project all afternoon, and to summarize my day in one word: DRAMA!
I had to listen to this especially dramatic narration that almost made medepressed the rest of the day... but I was thankfully saved by watching boys punching each other in an attempt to play american football. haha, hilarious!!

Meanwhile my imagination is drying up due to the project I'm making and I´m out of ideas, if it goes on like this I might have to pull an all-nighter.... : (
But at least the work is not so bad while I´m listening to my amazing NEW PLAYLIST!!!!
It has the album XX from The xx, some songs from The Smiths, The String Quartet, The Naked and the Famous and Two Door Cinema. You can listen to my playlist in the widget below:

I'm so amazing!!! ain't I? haha
