Just read this book, it was unexpectedly good, at first the writing seemed kind of simple and superficial but then there appeared all this complicated dialogues, and it got me wondering if I'm just too stupid or the kids on Australia are smarter... haha (there are a lot of inside jokes that you only get if you are a super nerd, avid reader or simply good google user, I'm the last btw)
But the plot wasn't stupid at all! there were a lot of feminist arguments but interpreted in a modern way, and I really liked that! It showed that you can be a feminist and still wear pink!! Of course it could have been better, because somehow I couldn't relate to the characters at all, probably because I'm not gay and don't have issues with sexual inclinations... haha
Another thing I liked is that it didn't divide groups between populars and nerds, because somehow the authors always make their main characters choose if they want to be popular and mean, or nerds who don't care what anybody else thinks. SPOILER: (I really liked that the leader of the pastels turned out to be a closeted nerd, and at the end pastels and screw ups found out they weren't that different after all).
At the end, it's a really simple book with common teenage issues but it has an unique plot that makes it worth reading.
