From Rags // Animal Collective

Review from the book I read today:
From RagsFrom Rags by Suzanne  Wright
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was such a nice change from all the books about painfully shy girls with no will at all. I was prepared to be disappointed by some common, mindless, and cliched plot. But instead I was pleasantly surprised by a strong female lead who takes no crap from anybody!! And the fact that it was written by a British author made it even better! I really enjoyed reading about all the blokes, twats or how she sodded off ponces who tried to shag her. haha
To explain how great it was you have to understand that I expected a book about a consummate playboy who gets back with his first love and changes his wicked ways, but since the first moment they meet again she takes the lead by making him understand that she won't tolerate him using her and then cheating on her so if he can't change he better fucks off. And it's not just words mind you! and if something happened is because she wanted it, not because the guy was ohhh soooo irresistible and he was soooo.. dominant that she couldn't resist him. The best part is that when she was confronted by difficult situations she took matters into her own hands and didn't expect a knight in shinning armor to come save her. She was confident, smart and didn't crumble to pieces if someone talked shit about her.
(view spoiler)[ The best part was when Connor's ex comes to try to tell her that she is pregnant with his baby but she just tells her: "Congratulations on your fictional pregnancy!" and then closes the door on her face. haha  (hide spoiler)]
The only thing that I thought was weird at first but then ended up liking even if it was confusing at times is that the author changes the point of view A LOT throughout the book. So sometimes your inside Jaxx's mind and then your inside Connor's, without mentioning all their friends and sometimes just acquaintances. But it was nice to know the reactions of the both of them while they interacted, mainly because sometimes Jaxxon acted totally different of how she was feeling at the moment.
Another thing I liked a lot were their friends. Sometimes they were just sooo insightful and helpful when they realized they just needed a push, or they simply backed off when they needed space. That is without mentioning Jaxxon's three überprotective uncles. haha But their friends play a large role in the book by providing help or simply comedy. In short, it was a good book.
